Joseph and his friend Philip. Philip is around Joseph's age and is matched with a family!!! If you would like to hear more about Philip's adoption, check out

Even though there is a family interested in Joseph, there is still not a whole lot of time to complete the beginning stages of adoption paper work! The family has requested for continuing prayer over filling out all the adoption paper work. Pray that people they are collecting all the info from would be timely in getting back with them and understand the importance of getting this done as quickly as possible.
If the Lord wants this family to be Joseph's forever family, HE will make a way.
God bless!
*Side note: Couple of followers have asked me if they can give money to Joseph's adoption fund. Once the family has been given PA to adopt Joseph, they will be setting up a website along with a pay pal for donations.

Joseph, you are wanted.
As I have been advocating for Joseph, I have all these thoughts running through my mind.
"Does anyone want Joseph as their son?"
"Why is there not a family who wants him?"
"God, can there please be a family who wants him???"
Sure enough, the Lord answers prayers!! PTL!!!I am proud to announce there is a family who is in the process of adopting Joseph. They have just recently found an agency and are starting up on the piles of paper work!
Prayer requests!!
-This family would like you to pray for the Lord's will. This is a big step to go forward into this process adopting an older boy so they need all the wisdom from the Lord they can get!
-They also need pray financially that God would provide the money.
I have been chatting with them over email and they sound to me like a pretty neat family. I am so thankful that this young family is willing to take a big leap of faith in bringing Joseph into their lives.
As for this blog, I will now be posting updates and prayer requests from the family.
It is now our job to keep praying for Joseph's adoption process. Pray the family will be able to finish the paperwork before he turns 14.

Still
What to say?
Joseph is STILL at SFCV.
Joseph is STILL on the waiting list for his forever family to find him.
Joseph STILL wants a forever family.
Remember Joseph.
15 month left until he will be too old to be adopted.

Joseph and Friends
Joseph loves being with his friends. Whether it would be playing computers with them, making crafts in his primary class, or playing cards with them. He always wants to be where the action is. I remember whenever I would be playing cards with one of the kids, he would come by and just sit. Even if he didn't play, he just loved being around people. He is very competitive in games but that is another post in itself.

(Hayden, Tim Baker, Elisabeth, Blossom, Joseph, and Philip)
Just recently this picture was posted by Tim Baker (the founder of SFCV), he and his family celebrated Christmas with the older kids of SFCV. It shows Tim with Joseph and four of the older orphans. You can really see the close friendship they all share. It's an adorable picture but I saw something different....It struck me that at this point it looks like everyone of these kids is matched with a forever family except Joseph.
Possibly in the next year, Joseph will have to say goodbye to even more of his close friends while he waits wondering where his forever family is.
Let's pray that 2012 is the year that Joseph's forever family finds him.

Joseph and His Heart
During my time at SFCV, I only knew that Joseph had a heart condition.
After talking to the adoption liaison, she gave me a better description of what his heart condition is really about:
He has a very complicated heart condition
that includes no pulmonary artery, a double anomalous aortic arch and he had a VSD (Ventricular Septal defect),
He had a BT shunt (helps increase blood flow to the lungs) in 09/04/06.
He has not been able to have his second surgery as it's high risk and he is doing very well at this time.
He also has a Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome, but it can't be corrected until his heart is corrected.
He is pale, but is happy and a great guy
I love this line because it is so true!!! I didn't realize Joseph was so sick because I didn't see it in his face and how he interacted with people. He is so friendly and full of life that you wouldn't expect him to be
this sick.
One thing you all can pr*y for is his heart. Joseph does have a very complicated heart condition so continuing to lift that up to the Lord.
Also for Joseph's spiritual heart, pr*ying that God would give Joseph a family that is following HIM.
Merry Christmas!

Affection and Joseph.
I will never forget this moment with Joseph.
One of the last days I was in China, I told Grady (16 year old orphan at SFCV) I would pick him up at his house to go play cards with him and some of the other interns over at the Inn. Joseph (roommate of Grady) was over at the house and was pleading to go play cards as well. His nannies ended up letting him go so we all walked together.
While we were walking, Joseph reached out and started holding my hand.
I didn't think much about it really. We ended up playing lots of cards, taking pictures, and laughing way to hard. (Joseph loves cards, post on that later :)
After our fun, I kept thinking about that moment. I felt honored that he wanted to hold my hand but also it opened me to a new side of Joseph I have never seen before or realized Joseph had. Joseph is affectionate. He reaches out to people he is close with.
Even though he is 12 years old, I saw him strive for that affection this summer from the visitors/staff etc. Maybe that is a reason he started holding my hand. :)
Maybe he strives for that affection because he has never known what it feels like to have an affectionate family. To have a father pat him on the back and say "Good job son" or a mother telling him " I love you sweetie." Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful he is in SFCV but again, there is nothing like a forever family.
All I know is that I saw a different side of Joseph and it was a moment I will never forget. :)
Joseph and I being goofy that day :)
